Epic tattoo of jellyfish on my great friend Lauri Green's back. Pelagia colorata. Milton collects other folks marine creatures tattoos.
Milton is truly a die-hard marine biologist. I wasn't sure if I was going to go that far myself... all the way to personalized drivers license plates?

Milton's rockfish and anglerfish tattoos. He had to consult his kids to see whether it was okay for him to permanently mark his body with tattoos.
Every cool scientist seem to has his or her alien system, (1) as a matter of survival, mental sanity, and (2) as a matter of philosophical principled. I have my decapodal pogostickapoids, and Milton has his Kwarkarkians. I am sure there might be some parallels in the evolution of these alien systems!
Victoria's decapodal pogostickapoids look like this--the loose appendage of an amphipod under a microscope. My friend Lauri Green went bananas trying to classify this organism... until she figured out it was a PART of an organism! Thanks for the picture, Lauri!
I think it is obvious. I have become obsessed with the "minds" of scientists. Not necessarily the system itself. But how several types of scientists perceive systems. Dr. Milton Love's mind is quite, quite nice. Not only I appreciate his controversial research with natural ecosystems growing on unnatural oil rigs, so what to do about the rigs?, but I keep collecting all the signs that "scientists are humans." I collect data on how "science is a way of life." For example, above, Milton loves his Pacific Coast fish so much, that he wrote poems about them (cool ones may I add... and now, due to his poetry, I will never forget which fish change sex or which male fish exist merely as a bag of sperm latched onto a female). Not only poetry, but Milton's tattoos (above). Milton even created his own alien race, just as I had the past year... in my own isolation... He has Kwarkarkians (KKKs, oh god) to work with, and I have Decapodal Pogostickapoids (DPPs) to deal with in my last chapter. He is a Channel for the KKKs, and I assume my extroverted self, Terra, is potentially a member of DPPs, disguised as a human in order to systematically and scientifically investigate the Homo sapiens system on Planet Earth. Terra never takes form of a DPP, but maintains superb relations with them, so superb that she and Buz contract the DPPs to due a series of "sustainability" experiments of Replicate Earths.... Okay. More later. The next thing I need to collect is Milton Love's driver's license plate....
Some personal comments on the above poems. Some male organisms are literally bags of sperm latched onto females. This circumstance is my father's ideal version of the male species in a quasi-utopia-ic Earth. He is self-deprecating of his own kind. I am sure he will be relieved to know that at least there are certain male fish (anglers...) who actually exist as bags of sperm. If there is a school of fish, and there is a "missing" sex, some fish actually alter themselves physically and hormonally, and literally change their sex. In wrasses, females have the capacity to transform themselves to males. I wonder about the othe way around.... And in general, for Milton Love to merge biology with a very-well-versed understanding of literature and human history, as portrayed in Probably More Than You Want to Know About the Fishes of the Pacific Coast, and of course, whenever I talk to him in person. In short, it's just an extraordinary, entertaining mix, and just-the-right-touch for me.... It makes me ponder about how we should have a study of a biologist's interpretation of classical literature and human history (quasi Jared Diamond-esque). It's very different than traditional "English teacher" and "history teacher" interpretations of such writing.... *sigh*
I think every human mind may be partially genetically designed to create their own "god." And if not their own god, then their own "alien race." Such and Milton and myself have our own alien races, that I invented in my mind out of necessity after learning geology. Why? Because after you learn geology and conceptually annex the whole earth, you feel a bit quarantined and mentally stuck on this dxm planet, and you need to create this alternate planet and alternate reality so that you don't feel mentally stuck. Well, at least for me. I think a human mind may be designed to create a form of Reality that is a step outside the box of the world and knowns that they live in. It's a place of comfort and thriving and limitless creativity in a world that sometimes seemingly quarantined and limited. Milton Love is an example of another person who I think is non-religious, but instead of having some type of "God" like the rest of the population, people's minds tend to invent alien races, fantasy lands, or the equivalent....
Anyhoo...

Milton's very cool poem, "When a fellow needs a friend."
Milton's other very cool poem, "Reproductio Ad Absurdium."

Milton's very eloquent biography. I honestly wished I were as accomplished as he is.
